Sweden’s Rosengard becomes second team in Crux Football’s women’s club portfolio
January 15 – Crux Football, the fledgling multi-club ownership business focussed on women’s clubs and founded by Kiwi Rebecca Smith, has made its second acquisition taking a major stake in FC Rosengård, Sweden’s most successful women’s team.
The Swedish Football Association has approved the transfer of the women’s stadium to FC Rosengård Elitfotboll AB which will form part of the deal. Crux will partner with the FC Rosengård Association, which retains more than 51% of the club’s voting rights.
FC Rosengård Elitfotboll AB joins Première Ligue Féminines Division 1 team Montpellier HSC Féminines in the Crux group. Crux acquired the French club in October 2025.
Swedish playing legend Caroline Seger will return to the club as Head of Football with a mandate to strengthen the team, invest in player development pathways, and compete for titles in Sweden and Europe.
Crux will bring expertise in operations, analytics, and commercial operations, including a focus on player development, branding, communications and marketing, commercial partnerships, and media.
“FC Rosengård is one of the most important clubs in the history of women’s football, built over many years by passionate players, staff, supporters, and leaders on and off the pitch. At Crux Football, our aim is to stand alongside that work and help the club take its next steps – by giving the players the resources and support they need to compete with the biggest clubs in Europe, while preserving everything that makes Rosengård special,” said Bex Smith.
“What we are contributing is long-term, targeted investments and modern performance infrastructure to support the club’s existing strengths, so that more of these talents can stay in the region longer and return to the top. With Rosengård, we are investing long-term capital, shared expertise from our network, and a player-focused environment to help the club write its next chapter.”
No value was given for the acquisition or for the investment that will be made in the club and the team.
“Everyone who knows me knows that I am incredibly passionate about women’s football and giving the players the best conditions,” said Seger. “The Crux initiative provides an incredible opportunity to finally give the players just that. It is a new world that opens up in terms of everything from daily operations to extensive support functions and international relations. In this way, we can offer a place and a context – right in the heart of Malmö – where the best players can become even better, compete for titles and always feel at home.”
