FIFA launches new last-minute 2026 ticket sale. 5m sold to date
July 22 – With 50 days left until kickoff, FIFA is launching another last-minute tickets sales phase for the 2026 World Cup on Wednesday.
FIFA said new World Cup tickets will be released to the general audience with all 104 matches available on sale on a first-come, first-serve basis. The world governing body will keep releasing tickets until July 19, the day of the World Cup final at MetLifeStadium in New Jersey.
Zurich said that it has sold more than 5 million tickets to date. The total inventory is 6,5 million in the first 48-team World Cup and FIFA expects to gross a record $3 billion from ticketing and hospitality from what will be the most expensive and inaccessible World Cup in history for fans, with ticket prices far outstripping what supporters had to pay at the last tournament in Qatar.
In January, FIFA claimed that it had received 500 million ticket requests. On Wednesday morning, the ticketing platform on FIFA’s website had availability for four matches, including Canada – Bosnia Herzegovina, and limited availability for 36 matches, including USA – Paraguay and four knockout matches.
Canada’s curtain raiser against the Bosnians in Toronto had plenty of blocks in the lower and upper tier available with tickets prices in category 1, 2 and front row – a category FIFA recently introduced – ranging from $1645 to $3360. The US’s opener against Paraguay in Inglewood is also struggling to sell with tickets prices in category 1, 2 and front row, including a front category 2, ranging from $1940 to $4105. The Athletic reported that on April 10 just 40,934 tickets had been sold for the match.
Hospitality tickets remain available for the Paraguay match from $3600. On Wednesday morning, FIFA’s website showed that only Brazil – Morocco, the first match in New Jersey and the five-time world champions’ curtain raiser, was unavailable in the hospitality segment for matches in the United States. The World Cup final could still be purchased from $16,475.
FIFA has repeatedly been criticised for hight tickets prices and raising prices and introducing new categories during the sales phases. Earlier this month, FIFA revealed ticket prices for the World Cup final as high as $11,000. Previously, ticket prices had been set from $140 for Category 3 in the first round to $8,680 for the final. Zurich also introduced a front row category which infuriated supporters who had splashed out on expensive seats only to end up in less favourable locations.
The world federation has also been criticised for monetising car parking, with prices in Boston as high as $780.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
