European associations raise cost concerns ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup

April 2 – European football associations have once again raised the alarm bell over spiralling costs at the FIFA World Cup, with the world governing body’s President Gianni Infantino promising a solution.

The 2026 tournament has been labelled the most expensive World Cup ever, not just for fans because of FIFA’s exorbitant ticket prices, but also for actual finalists, who fear that the competition will not generate much needed income.

FIFA raised the prize money to £546million for this tournament, but with high costs in the United States, lower daily allowances and tax complications, some European finalists fear they will not make money unless they reach the last four.

The Times reports that France is leading a group of European finalists that demanded UEFA lobby on their behalf. The concerns were first raised at the recent UEFA Congress in Brussels. Each team will receive a qualifying payment of £6.7million and £1.1million in preparation costs.

Switzerland was one of the first associations to raise the alarm. They will play two matches in California and their final group game in Vancouver, Canada, but fear that without progress to the knockout phase, the World Cup will become a loss-making operation.

Teams playing in the United States will be most affected. FIFA does not have a tax agreement with U.S. authorities that covers the taxes at a state level. Last summer, clubs at the 32-team Club World Cup were subject to the same predicament.

Inside World Football understands that Infantino will present a solution at the FIFA Congress in Vancouver at the end of April.

PakarPBN

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
